Scope 2 emissions are calculated using location-based methodology.

Prior to FY20, business travel only included emissions from air travel and rental cars. Beginning in FY20, rail, ferry, taxi and rideshare (e.g., Lyft, Uber) have been added to the Workday inventory. The emissions from these additional travel modes represent less than 3% of the total business travel emissions in FY20, and are not sufficiently material to require a restatement of baseline and historical emissions.

Prior to FY20, Scope 1 only included emissions from natural gas consumed in our buildings. Beginning in FY20, company-operated vehicles have been added to the Workday inventory. The emissions from company-operated vehicles represent less than 1% of total Scope 1 in FY20, and are not sufficiently material to require a restatement of baseline and historical emissions.

For FY19 and FY20, reported emissions for Data Centers comprised location-based Scope 2 electricity and market-based Scope 3 non-IT electricity. In addition to the Scope 2 electricity consumed by third-party-operated data centers, Workday calculates GHG emissions from the non-IT electricity load (overhead and cooling) at the data centers and allocates them as Scope 3. While Workday reports market-based Scope 3 non-IT data center electricity, it also calculates corresponding location-based emissions for Scope 3 non-IT data center electricity.

Net-zero carbon emissions goal boundary includes global Scope 1, Scope 2 market-based, Scope 3 market-based data center non-IT, and Scope 3 business travel.

Includes global Scope 1, Scope 2 market-based, and Scope 3 market-based data center non-IT.
